Hey Cirque du Soleil fans!
This past weekend I saw VOLTA live! Cirque du Soleil is known for reinventing the traditional circus, and the creators behind this show designed a performance that Cirque du Soleil has never done before!
The show told the story of Waz, a gameshow contestant, who is different from others. Rather than fitting in and seeking acceptance through fame, Waz learned that the ultimate freedom comes from within and excepting your individuality. Through rope skipping, hand to hand acrobatics, and BMX tricks, Cirque du Soleil intricately portrayed Waz’s journey of self fulfillment!

After the amazing performance, I had the opportunity to interview with two performers: Alexi and Masa. Alexi (on the left) is a swinging artist and Masa (on the right) is a rope skipper. Alexi is from Switzerland and has been with Cirque du Soleil for the past 9 months. Masa is from Japan and has been with Cirque du Soleil for 7 years! Both artists shared their passion for their acrobatic styles and what its like to be a part of the show! Both artist have their own warm up routine which can take about two hours before and after each show. The artists also shared that they have to do their own makeup before going on stage! Another fun fact is that their outfits are all designed by Zaldi Goco (RuPaul and Lady Gaga’s designers). Both artists were so sweet and fun to talk to!

Overall, I had an amazing time at Cirque du Soleil and highly reccomend that you ATLiens check out VOLTA while it is here! Tickets start as low as $49 and the show will be in Atlanta until January 5, 2020!
Until next time,
The Spicy Savor
