Hey guys! Today’s post is about one of my favorite latin places to eat at in Atlanta, La Fonda Latina. La Fonda is the Cuban sister restaurant to the infamous Felini’s pizza. If you did not know before, then now you can guess why almost every Felini’s in Atlanta is next to a La Fonda. I was introduced to La Fonda by one of my older sisters. I specifically remember the day that I first had it too. It was about 5 years ago and my teeth were in so much pain because I had a bad filling. I almost had tears strolling down my face because of the pain, but their steak quesadilla was so freaking delicious that I stuck through the pain and kept eating.
The flavors of La Fonda’s food makes it unique. Their rice is not stale and their black beans do not taste like they came out of a can. La Fonda, hands down, has the best salsa in Atlanta. It’s not the average hit or miss boring puree you get at most latin restaurants. Their salsa is freshly prepared with thick tomato chunks, onion, and cilantro. I can’t forget about their queso either. Yes, I am a sucker for queso. La Fonda’s queso tastes pretty similar to any other queso that you would get at a latin restaurant, but it complements the salsa! Their sweet maduros made the perfect appetizer; so sweet, light and right out the fryer. La Fonda’s Pollo a La Parilla is remarkable. Fresh off the grill and straight to your table, the pollo is so juicy and full of flavor. Oh wait, but here’s a secret to making the pollo extra tasty. La Fonda has a special jalapeño sauce that you need to ask for on the side. Its a small cup that is white and green and it makes the perfect cooling dipping sauce for any entree. To be quite honest my two favorite rice dishes at La Fonda are the Pollo a La Parilla and the Paella del Mar. Of course, its not Spanish Paella, but it has its own Cuban flavor. With mussels steamed to perfection, soft scallops, and tasty shrimp, La Fonda’s paella is a dish that I always contemplate on ordering.
Overall, I have to say that I rate La Fonda as a 10/10. This restaurant never seems to disappoint me. Any time that I am in the city and start craving hispanic food, I have to find a La Fonda close by. I highly recommend this restaurant to my local Atlanta foodies. The food is perfection, the service is great, and the prices are very reasonable. I hope you all enjoy La Fonda as much as I do!
Until next time,
